How do you get a good haircut?

I'm poor and either cut my own hair or my mom does it, with a kit that has everything. Is there some sort of special technique to having a good haircut? I always end up looking like a porcupine, my hair sorta sticks out and looks lame.How do you get a good haircut?

Your best bet would be a professional hairdresser. But since you can't afford it, then here's what you should do...find pictures of simple haircut online that your mom could do for you. Maybe a V-cut ( Not blunt.)
